Construction Manager (Bridges & Structural Works)

About the role

This senior-level position offers the chance to lead bridge and structural works on a major infrastructure project in Durban. The Construction Manager will be fully responsible for on‑site execution, ensuring compliance with engineering, safety, quality and commercial requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all site‑based bridge and structural construction activities.
• Ensure works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications and project standards.
• Lead construction teams, subcontractors and site personnel to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Manage bridge foundations, piling, retaining structures, concrete works, decks, beams, culverts and interchange structures.
• Maintain strict compliance with SANRAL specifications and contractual obligations.
• Coordinate daily planning, logistics, resources, plant and labour requirements.
• Monitor progress, budgets, programme timelines and productivity targets.
• Identify and resolve technical, operational and construction challenges on site.
• Ensure full health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.

Required profile

• Professionally registered Construction Manager with extensive bridge and structural works experience in South Africa.
• Decades of proven site‑leadership on large‑scale bridge, interchange and reinforced concrete projects.
• Technically strong, highly disciplined and able to operate under high‑pressure conditions.
• Capable of leading large, multidisciplinary construction teams.
