Compressor Technician – Maintenance & Service

About the role

The Technician is responsible for routine and preventative maintenance, repairs, and technical support on all brands of screw air compressors, dryers, and auxiliary equipment. The role involves direct interaction with customers to resolve technical queries and ensure equipment operates to specification.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preventative maintenance and major/minor services in line with mining recommendations and company standards.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning compressors, dryers and related equipment.
• Test and document operating parameters before and after maintenance, using company‑provided hardware and software.
• Perform weekly site visits to verify optimal compressor performance and maintain standby schedules.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment, good housekeeping, and adherence to safety procedures.
• Maintain tool registers and vehicle inspection lists for mine engineer sign‑off.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and be on standby for after‑hours emergencies.
• Excellent customer service, communication (oral and written), and problem‑solving skills.
• Reliable, hard‑working, and able to adapt to a fast‑changing environment.
• Willingness to relocate, work weekends, public holidays, and after‑hours as required.

Required skills

• Electrical/Mechanical trade qualification (certificate or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years experience with industrial compressors.
• Knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems in compressor installations.
• Refrigeration experience (compressor dryers, refrigeration systems) – advantage.
• Welding experience – advantage.
• Experience with galvanized pipework and air‑regulation installations – advantage.
