Compliance Officer – Business Banking

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Compliance Officer to join our Business Banking team in Sandton. You will act as a trusted adviser, helping the bank navigate complex regulatory requirements while supporting growth and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Advise Business Banking teams on compliance matters, including client queries, complaints, new products and strategic initiatives.
• Identify, track and resolve compliance risks across the business.
• Prepare accurate reports for governance bodies and regulators.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and regulators, representing the bank in regulatory engagements and industry committees.
• Partner with project teams to embed compliance from the outset of initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in banking or financial services compliance or legal advising.
• Relevant qualification in law or a degree (preferred).
• Working knowledge of South African financial services legislation, including the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, market conduct requirements, the National Credit Act, the Protection of Personal Information Act and the Consumer Protection Act.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
• Strong communication skills to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear guidance.

Required skills

• Regulatory knowledge of South African financial services legislation.
