Compliance Officer – Business Banking

About the role

Capitec is seeking a proactive Compliance Officer to join its Business Banking team in Sandton. You will act as a trusted adviser, helping the team navigate complex regulatory requirements while supporting growth and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Advise Business Banking teams on compliance matters, including client queries, complaints, new products and strategic initiatives.
• Identify, assess and manage compliance risks, ensuring early detection and proper tracking of known risks.
• Produce accurate, meaningful reports for governance bodies and regulators.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and regulators, representing Capitec in regulatory engagements and industry committees.
• Partner with project teams to embed compliance considerations from day one, delivering governance requirements throughout project lifecycles.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in banking or financial services compliance or legal advisory.
• Relevant qualification in law; a degree is preferred.
• Working knowledge of South African financial services legislation, including the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, Market Conduct requirements, National Credit Act, Protection of Personal Information Act and Consumer Protection Act.
• Proven ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance.
