Community Outreach Officer

About the role

The South African Responsible Gambling Foundation is looking for a passionate Community Outreach Officer to lead awareness, education and prevention initiatives around responsible gambling. You will work directly with communities, schools and partner organisations to promote safe gambling practices and connect people with support services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct community awareness and responsible gambling education programmes.
• Build and maintain relationships with community organisations, schools, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate outreach events, workshops, and campaigns.
• Distribute educational materials and provide information on available support services.
• Prepare outreach reports and monitor programme impact.
• Support national responsible gambling and harm‑reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Psychology, Public Health, Communications, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in community outreach, public awareness campaigns, or stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and report‑writing skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
• South African citizen.
• Police Clearance Certificate.

Required skills

• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficiency in English and at least one additional South African language.
