Community Liaison Officer (CLO)

About the role

The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) acts as the primary communication link between ACTOM’s project team and the local community where the project is located. The role promotes constructive community relations, supports transparent local recruitment, and helps maintain a stable environment for project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the day‑to‑day liaison between the project and the local community.
• Establish and maintain constructive relationships with recognised community representatives and local leadership structures.
• Communicate approved project information to community stakeholders clearly and consistently.
• Facilitate community meetings, information sessions and stakeholder engagements as required.
• Capture and promptly forward community questions, concerns and grievances to the appropriate company representative.
• Support the project team in understanding local dynamics that may affect project activities.
• Assist with local recruitment between the contractor and the community.
• Escalate any community disruptions or risks to project owners and contractors.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
• Resident of the community where the project is executed.
• Relevant qualification in Community Development, Public Relations, Human Resources, Social Sciences or related field is advantageous.
• Previous experience in community liaison, stakeholder engagement or similar project environments is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Fluency in English and relevant local language(s).
