Communications & Media Consultant (Part‑time)

About the role

SaveAct is seeking a part‑time Communications & Media Consultant to strengthen its external visibility and resource mobilisation. The role focuses on high‑value communications outputs and will be allocated 2–3 days per month, with the possibility of expansion if additional funding becomes available.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a concise communications and media strategy to guide external messaging.
• Lead the creation and refinement of high‑quality external content, including impact stories, human‑interest pieces, and thematic articles.
• Translate programme data, reports, and field insights into clear, engaging narratives that reflect SaveAct’s voice and theory of change.
• Advise on the use of photographs, quotes, and testimonials to enhance storytelling.
• Support a focused LinkedIn presence, prioritising clarity and relevance over volume.
• Provide targeted communications support for donor‑facing proposals and reports.
• Assist with opportunistic media and external visibility activities within the allocated time.

Required profile

• Strong writing and editing skills in English; isiZulu proficiency is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in NGO or development communications.
• Ability to turn programme work into compelling narratives.
• Practical, delivery‑focused mindset with reliability and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to meet agreed content schedules.
