Commercial Workshop Foremen & Technical Leaders

About the role

The Recruitment Guy is seeking experienced commercial‑vehicle workshop leaders for permanent positions in Ermelo. The role covers foremen, supervisors, leads and technical leaders who will drive workshop performance, quality and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise technicians, mechanics, apprentices and other workshop personnel, allocating jobs based on capability, workload and priority.
• Monitor workshop productivity, workflow, turnaround times and technician performance, ensuring high standards of workmanship.
• Provide technical assistance, troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical and diagnostic faults, and conduct quality‑control inspections before vehicle release.
• Utilise manufacturer diagnostic equipment and electronic systems, interpret fault codes and maintain accurate diagnostic and repair records.
• Ensure accurate job cards, labour times, warranty documentation and parts usage, while complying with OEM, health & safety and environmental standards.
• Mentor and develop workshop staff, identify skills gaps, deliver training and promote continuous improvement.
• Support service advisors and customers with technically complex queries, delivering clear explanations and ensuring correct, efficient repairs.

Required profile

• Qualified/trade‑tested diesel mechanic with proven experience in commercial‑vehicle or truck workshops.
• Demonstrated workshop supervisory, leadership or technical‑leadership experience.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic fault‑finding ability, including use of modern diagnostic equipment.
• Experience in dealership, authorised workshop, fleet or service‑centre environments is advantageous.
• Ability to lead, mentor and develop personnel, with good administrative and organisational skills.
• Valid Code 14 licence (required or highly advantageous depending on position).
• Traceable employment references and willingness to relocate to Ermelo if not locally resident.
