Co-Head Legal & Compliance

About the role

Join a leading Pan‑African financial services and investment group as Co‑Head of Legal & Compliance. You will work alongside senior leadership to shape the legal and regulatory strategy across investment, advisory and corporate activities.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑lead the Group’s legal and compliance function across multiple jurisdictions.
• Advise senior management on legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
• Oversee AML, FICA and other regulatory reporting requirements.
• Monitor legislative developments and manage corporate governance, secretarial duties and entity incorporations.
• Support investment, M&A and fund transactions, including drafting and negotiating contracts.
• Manage KYC processes and coordinate with external legal advisers.
• Maintain legal templates, contracts and internal resources.
• Handle employment‑related legal issues and liaise with external counsel.
• Assist with insurance, intellectual property and general corporate legal matters.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admission as an attorney in South Africa.
• Minimum five years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong academic record.
• Experience in financial services, investment management, funds or banking is advantageous.
• Exposure to multiple jurisdictions and familiarity with AML, FICA and regulatory compliance.
