Cloud Security Engineer – Azure (Mid‑Level)

About the role

We are looking for a Cloud Security Engineer to join our Security Operations and Engineering team in South Africa. The role focuses on securing Azure cloud environments, enforcing governance, monitoring threats, and driving continuous improvement of cloud security capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Azure security controls, configurations and baselines.
• Monitor security posture using Microsoft Defender, Azure Security Center and Sentinel.
• Ensure compliance for Privileged Identity Management, RBAC, Service Principals, Managed Identities and Break‑Glass accounts.
• Manage Azure AD/Entra security, privileged access monitoring and Zero‑Trust governance.
• Conduct vulnerability reviews, risk assessments and support remediation activities.
• Investigate security incidents, collaborate with SOC teams and produce incident reports.
• Develop automation using PowerShell, Logic Apps, Sentinel automation rules and playbooks.
• Document runbooks, security standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, IT or related field (preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience in IT or cloud security, preferably with Azure.
• Hands‑on experience administering Azure and using Microsoft security technologies.
• Experience with vulnerability management and security monitoring.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications are a plus.
