Cloud Engineer II – Networking Focus

About the role

Capitec Bank is looking for a Cloud Engineer II with a strong networking background to join its Cloud Core Engineering team. You will work at the intersection of the cloud platform and the underlying network, ensuring resilient, secure, and cost‑effective cloud‑native solutions that support millions of daily transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, document, and deploy cloud solutions that meet security, regulatory, high‑availability, and scalability requirements.
• Create detailed implementation plans, operational procedures, and handover documentation for complex deployments.
• Automate deployments, testing, and configuration management to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.
• Monitor infrastructure health, manage alerts, and track cost, usage, and risk metrics.
• Maintain compliance with internal, industry, and regulatory security standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to plan work, support knowledge transfer, and ensure smooth handovers to operations teams.

Required profile

• Solid foundation in traditional networking concepts and hands‑on experience with cloud networking.
• Ability to reason about packet flow, system connectivity, and secure, scalable infrastructure beyond cloud consoles.
• Strong analytical skills and a focus on engineering excellence.
