Close Protection Officer Team Leader

About the role

Afrirent Holdings is looking for a disciplined and dynamic Close Protection Officer Team Leader to supervise and coordinate Close Protection Officer (CPO) operations in Centurion. The role ensures the safety and security of assigned clients, personnel and assets through effective planning, risk assessment, team deployment and compliance with security procedures, while overseeing team performance, operational readiness and incident management in line with company policies and applicable legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and allocate CPO duties, supervise their performance and conduct, and keep them operationally ready
• Hold team briefings and debriefings, coach the team and identify training needs
• Carry out advance reconnaissance of routes, venues and events, and perform static and dynamic threat and risk assessments
• Develop and execute operational and contingency plans, adjusting protection strategies in real time
• Compile monthly, quarterly and annual reports on CPO activities, incidents and performance
• Monitor CPO expenditure and promote cost-effective use of resources within the approved budget
• Maintain the firearms register, verify authorisations and competencies, and manage the issuing, return and reconciliation of firearms, magazines and ammunition
• Ensure firearms and ammunition are stored, handled and transported in line with legislation and licence conditions, and report losses, theft, unauthorised access and discharges
• Monitor the readiness of CPO vehicles, communication devices, protective equipment and first-aid kits

Required profile

• Matric (NQF Level 4)
• PSIRA Grade A
• Ideal: accredited Close Protection / VIP Protection certification (NQF Level 5 or higher preferred)
• 3-5 years' experience in security or law enforcement, including 1-2 years in supervision
• Experience implementing security protocols
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Valid SAPS firearm competency certificate for business purposes (handgun, shotgun and/or carbine)
