Clinical Training Specialist

About the role

The Clinical Training Specialist will be based at Waverley Care Centre and report to the Nurse Manager. The role focuses on delivering in‑service training, managing student clinical programs, and supporting the professional development of nursing staff in line with Life College of Learning programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage WSP, CPD and other training programmes for all employees.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor nursing competency requirements and risk‑based in‑service training.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and feedback to ensure clinical competence.
• Participate in incident investigations and hospital quality projects, identifying deviations and taking remedial action.
• Oversee internal and external student clinical programmes, including selection, administration and resource management.
• Facilitate clinical skills development and support student research projects.
• Promote the nursing profession through marketing initiatives and community events.

Required profile

• Grade 12/NSC with a Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
• Qualification in Nursing Education and Psychiatric Nursing (advantageous).
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and Registered Assessor status.
• Post‑registration nursing experience in a relevant healthcare environment.
• Proven clinical leadership expertise and knowledge of nursing legislation.
• Understanding of nursing education systems, change management principles and assessment methods.
• Valid driver’s licence.
