Clinical Nurse RN – Paediatric ICU/Oncology (12‑Month Fixed Term)

About the role

The Professional Nurse/Clinical Nurse will provide holistic, person‑centred care to patients in the Paediatric ICU and Oncology units of Netcare Pretoria East Hospital. This 12‑month fixed‑term position involves direct and indirect nursing interventions, coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care for paediatric and oncology patients.
• Document patient observations, interventions and outcomes accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals and families to develop comprehensive care plans.
• Serve as a clinical resource, supporting staff in delivering evidence‑based nursing practice.
• Maintain infection‑control standards and ensure a safe environment within the ward.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification, registered with the South African Nursing Council.
• Minimum of 12 months post‑qualification experience in Paediatric ICU or Oncology settings.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient‑focused care.

Required skills

• Experience in Haematology and Oncology nursing.
• Knowledge of Paediatric Intensive Care unit protocols.
• Proficiency in clinical assessment and documentation.
