Clinical Nurse Practitioner – Campus Health Services

About the role

The Campus Health Services at Stellenbosch University seeks a qualified Clinical Nurse Practitioner to deliver comprehensive primary health care to staff and students across its two main campuses. You will join a multi‑professional team providing preventive, curative and emergency services in a dynamic university environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide preventative and curative health care to staff and students, including emergency interventions such as ECGs and nebulisations.
• Dispense medications and administer immunisations within your scope of practice.
• Deliver nursing support at sport events and other campus activities, including after‑hours on‑call rotations.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to institutional health policy development, presentations and workshops.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner.
• Post‑graduate qualification in Primary Health Care.
• 7–10 years of professional nursing experience.
• Certificate in dispensing of medicine and a valid South African driver’s licence.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multi‑professional team and under pressure.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in performing spirometry, ECG, breast examinations and cervical smears.
• Experience in dispensing medication and administering immunisations.
• Use of information technology for clinical documentation and reporting.
• Multilingual communication (at least two of South Africa’s official languages).
