Clinical Nurse – PB Qualified (12‑Month) Operating Theatre

About the role

The Trained Operating Theatre Professional Nurse provides holistic, person‑centred care to patients, families and the wider community within a multidisciplinary health team. This 12‑month, full‑time position is based in the operating theatre of Netcare Group’s Johannesburg facility.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and document individualized nursing care for surgical patients.
• Serve as a clinical resource, supporting staff in nursing assessments, care planning and evaluation.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians and other health professionals, acting as patient advocate.
• Coordinate emergency treatment (RESUS) across the hospital when required.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, rounds and development of care plans.
• Maintain accurate shift documentation reflecting patient status, staffing ratios and any issues.

Required profile

• Post‑basic qualification in nursing with PB (Professional Board) registration.
• Experience in an operating theatre or similar high‑acuity clinical environment.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with patients, families and health professionals.
