Chief Operations Officer (5-Year Fixed Term)

About the role

Magalies Water is advertising a Chief Operations Officer position (Peromnes Grade P3, Division Office of the CEO, COO Cluster) at its head office in Rustenburg. The appointment is on a 5-year fixed-term contract, with a minimum package of R 2,579,684.27 CTC. The role leads all operations in the provision of water services and supports the Chief Executive.

Key responsibilities

• Direct internal operations to achieve budgeted results and preserve the capital invested in the enterprise.
• Take part in developing short-term and long-range plans and budgets, and oversee operating policies and compliance with legislation and risk management.
• Manage water demand forecasting, secure raw water extraction licences from DWA, and prepare project business cases for Board approval.
• Coordinate all infrastructure projects so they align with strategic objectives and monitor their budget and completion.
• Ensure consistent water service delivery across the organisation's area of operation and report on water quality affecting service.
• Support the Chief Executive in strategy, resource raising for CAPEX programmes and implementing ministerial directives.
• Represent the organisation in national forums and manage all associated risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or NQF 8 qualification in Engineering or Natural Sciences, with professional registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Pr.Sci.Nat.
• 10 years' relevant experience, including 5 years in water service provision and management of bulk water infrastructure.
• 5 years' experience at management level.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Postgraduate qualification (NQF 9) in Business Management, Leadership or Public Administration is an added advantage.
