Chief Operating Officer (COO)

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer will lead Innovazi Consulting’s operational functions, translating strategic objectives into measurable results. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will drive growth, profitability and a culture of excellence across all business units.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to executive teams, set objectives, KPIs and conduct quarterly performance reviews.
• Oversee customer retention initiatives, conduct client visits and strengthen a customer‑centric culture.
• Co‑design sales and marketing strategies, support field sales, manage pricing, commissions and tender processes.
• Collaborate with operations and product heads to ensure service excellence, secure vendor rates and conduct compliance audits.
• Manage financial reporting, budgeting, cash‑flow analysis and board presentations to improve margins.
• Develop and execute a digital strategy, ensuring robust cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, automation and AI initiatives.
• Lead HR functions including talent acquisition, development, B‑BBEE compliance and safety governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business (minimum NQF level 8); postgraduate qualification is a plus.
• Executive leadership program from a reputable business school.
• 20+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, transport or customs clearing.
• Proven track record of operational excellence, growth and financial management.
• Strong risk, compliance and governance experience at board level.
• Ability to lead diverse teams and influence senior stakeholders.
