Chief Governance Officer (Permanent)

About the role

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) in Pretoria is seeking a senior professional to lead its corporate governance function. As Chief Governance Officer, you will oversee the implementation of the governance framework, support anti‑corruption initiatives and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and coordinate all corporate governance activities across the SIU.
• Manage the Corporate Governance Committee (CGC), including induction of members and ongoing governance support.
• Lead special risk projects related to governance.
• Oversee human resource management and budgetary responsibilities for the governance function.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote effective governance practices.

Required profile

• Deep knowledge of South African legislation and regulations such as PFMA, Treasury regulations, Corporate Governance Framework, Companies Act and King IV.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance and secretariat processes.
• Proficiency in project management principles and financial principles.
• Attention to detail, deadline‑driven, customer‑focused and independent with high integrity.
