Chief Executive Officer – Lead KTVR Bus Services

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will provide overall strategic direction and leadership for KTVR Bus Services, overseeing the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) operations across Ekurhuleni. Reporting directly to the Executive Chairperson and Board, the CEO will act as the primary liaison between senior management, shareholders, and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of corporate strategy, ensuring long‑term sustainability and growth of the BRT system.
• Chair executive committee meetings, present performance reports to the Board, and manage relationships with financial institutions, government bodies, and partners.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and revenue generation while ensuring compliance with PFMA, MFMA, DORA and other regulatory frameworks.
• Secure operational licences, manage asset acquisition (buses, depots), and supervise risk and health‑safety management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation Management or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred.
• Minimum 10 years corporate experience, including at least 5 years at executive level.
• Driver’s licence code 08 and willingness to travel to operational sites and stakeholder meetings.
• Experience in the minibus taxi industry or local government engagement is advantageous.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of the National Land Transport Act (2009) and BRT system operations.
• Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting, forecasting and audit compliance.
