Chief Executive Officer – Fixed-Term (5‑year)

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic direction for the Road Accident Fund (RAF), articulating its vision, overseeing all operations and ensuring delivery of the Fund’s mandate in line with the RAF Act.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and lead the organisation’s strategic direction, monitor performance against objectives and drive legislative amendments.
• Oversee the full claims lifecycle, digital modernisation, legal cost reduction and operational efficiency.
• Ensure robust corporate governance, risk management and compliance with the RAF Act, PFMA and related legislation.
• Manage financial stability, investment of assets, liquidity and supply‑chain processes.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with the Department of Transport, employees and other key partners.
• Provide strategic direction for corporate support, internal audit implementation and people management.

Required profile

• Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Law or Finance; Master’s degree in Business Management/Leadership is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years’ executive experience, preferably in medical, financial or insurance sectors.
• Proven turnaround and organisational transformation experience.
• Extensive knowledge of corporate governance, public‑sector governance and performance management.
