Chief Accountant – Financial Reporting Lead

About the role

Our client, a leading finance organisation in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, is seeking a senior finance professional to lead the accounting and reporting function across multiple entities. This is a strategic position that combines technical accounting expertise with commercial insight in a manufacturing and supply‑chain environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the financial accounting and reporting function for several entities.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts and consolidated financial reports.
• Drive accurate month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Consolidate, analyse and present financial information to senior management.
• Develop budgets, forecasts and monitor financial performance against targets.
• Ensure robust financial controls, governance and compliance.
• Support internal and external audit activities.
• Identify and implement improvements to reporting processes and efficiencies.
• Collaborate closely with operational, supply‑chain and commercial teams.
• Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to the finance team.

Required profile

• B.Com or equivalent finance degree (essential).
• Hons/CGMA qualification (highly advantageous).
• 5+ years of relevant experience, including multi‑entity reporting.
• Proven experience in manufacturing, supply‑chain or similar environments.
• Strong analytical ability and commercial insight.
• Demonstrated leadership potential.

Required skills

• Oracle financial system (non‑negotiable).
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
