Category Specialist – Asset Disposal

About the role

The Category Specialist – Asset Disposal will support the Group Manager Commercial Sourcing and Asset Disposals in driving strategic sourcing initiatives across a portfolio of commodities. You will analyse spend data, identify cost‑saving opportunities and manage supplier relationships to ensure compliance and value.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse ACSA’s spend, historical data and market trends to establish baselines and sourcing opportunities.
• Apply analytic techniques to support complex sourcing and supply‑chain projects.
• Assess demand plans and develop commodity‑specific sourcing strategies.
• Identify high‑impact cost‑reduction initiatives and execute appropriate negotiation plans.
• Build and maintain constructive relationships with suppliers and service providers.
• Monitor financial compliance of contracts, report performance and take corrective actions.
• Negotiate supplier contracts covering quality, price, delivery, terms and conditions.
• Contribute to a cross‑category database and analytics capability.
• Implement BBBEE targets and manage risk exposure through control measures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Business Management or Finance (essential).
• 6‑8 years of operational experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, logistics or contracts management (essential).
• Honours degree (NQF 8) and CIPS/SAPICS registration are advantageous.
• Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) is a plus.
