Capex Accountant

About the role

Unilever is looking for a Capex Accountant to join the Supply Chain Finance team in South Africa. The role will manage the full fixed‑asset lifecycle, ensure accurate financial reporting and support CAPEX governance across the supply chain function.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, ensuring accurate capitalization, transfers and retirements.
• Perform monthly asset reconciliations, resolve discrepancies and monitor depreciation calculations.
• Support CAPEX planning, forecasting and tracking; validate asset creation against approved projects.
• Oversee asset creation, modification, transfer and disposal processes in SAP.
• Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX, MTD) and support internal and external audits.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual asset reports and provide insights on CAPEX spend and asset utilization.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement and Finance teams.

Required profile

• Experience in fixed‑asset accounting and CAPEX governance within a supply‑chain or finance environment.
• Strong understanding of internal control requirements such as SOX and MTD.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and support audit processes.

Required skills

• SAP (asset accounting module)
• Knowledge of SOX compliance
• Familiarity with MTD control framework
