Buyer's Assistant (Fixed-Term Contract)

About the role

Join Ackermans' Apparel Team in Cape Town as a Buyer's Assistant on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. You will support the buying function with strong administrative skills and a passion for fashion.

Key responsibilities

• Execute all administration related to the buying process, including tendering, preparation of discussion documents, purchase order monitoring, style cards and sample management.
• Assist buyers with merchandise preparation, business plan documentation, range reviews and on‑time delivery follow‑up.
• Manage supplier queries, sample handling, markdowns and general administrative tasks while maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Effective communicator who can build and maintain relationships.
• Proactive, deadline‑driven and flexible, with strong planning, organising and time‑management abilities.
• Minimum one year of experience in a buyer’s assistant, administrative or internship role within a corporate retail or buying environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Knowledge of retail systems or PLM tools.
