Buyer – Stationery

About the role

Takealot.com, South Africa’s leading online retailer, is seeking a motivated Buyer to manage the stationery category. You will be responsible for selecting and purchasing merchandise that meets customer demand while driving sales and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a growth strategy for the stationery department, covering sales, brand expansion, supplier onboarding and new product listings.
• Source and prioritize new brands and suppliers in line with market trends and consumer demand.
• Negotiate pricing, trading terms and manage supplier relationships against strict service level agreements.
• Create promotional programmes, source deals and oversee site merchandising for the category.
• Support operations by monitoring returns, handling product queries and ensuring a world‑class customer experience.
• Manage stock levels, replenishment orders and maintain appropriate stock cover.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Science or Commerce.
• 3‑5 years of experience in retail, e‑commerce or related buying roles.
• Proven ability to build and maintain supplier relationships and meet SLA requirements.
• Strong analytical mindset with data‑driven decision‑making skills.
