Buyer – Non‑perishable Grocery Products

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced buyer to manage the procurement of non‑perishable grocery items. The role involves daily interaction with suppliers, maintaining stock levels, and driving sales growth across multiple store locations.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase non‑perishable food products in line with company policies.
• Set up and maintain a regular supplier call cycle.
• Meet with suppliers daily to discuss orders, trade plans, and promotions.
• Develop and sustain strong supplier relationships.
• Conduct market price surveys and assist in price negotiations.
• Create purchase orders and ensure timely supplier pickups.
• Monitor order status, delivery performance, and stock availability.
• Manage working capital by optimizing supplier payment terms.
• Control stock metrics such as negative, ageing, and low stock levels.

Required profile

• Proven experience buying non‑perishable grocery items in a wholesale or retail environment.
• Ability to work on‑site in Kuruman or Rustenburg (two positions available).
• Track record of meeting supplier sales growth and margin targets.
