Butchery Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading meat retailer in Cape Town, is seeking an experienced Butchery Manager to lead one of its busy meat centres. This hands‑on position combines retail management, staff leadership, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily retail operations, including staff supervision and stock control.
• Ensure accurate cash‑ups, reconciliations, and banking procedures.
• Motivate and manage staff to achieve sales targets and service standards.
• Handle scheduling, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
• Maintain health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
• Address customer queries and complaints effectively.
• Plan and execute in‑store promotions, displays, and merchandising.

Required profile

• Minimum 3–5 years of retail management experience.
• Strong staff management and scheduling abilities.
• Proven experience with cash handling, cash‑ups, and banking procedures.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Butchery knowledge (meat cuts, grading, stock rotation) is an advantage.
• Own reliable transport is essential.
