Business Development Specialist

About the role

The Business Development Specialist will act as the primary contact for prospective clients, respond to tenders, and drive sales growth in new territories. The role focuses on analysing market opportunities, building sustainable business cases, and securing new contracts to meet revenue targets.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for potential clients seeking product and service information.
• Identify and pursue new market opportunities, industry trends, and tender prospects in line with the group’s business development strategy.
• Analyse data to determine volume, throughput, and required network infrastructure for new opportunities.
• Develop and present business cases using BI tools and software to assess feasibility, profitability, and capital investment.
• Manage the end‑to‑end sales process, including tender responses, RFP/RFQ submissions, and contract renewals.
• Provide expertise in gap analysis, best‑practice implementation, and performance reporting.
• Identify value‑adding initiatives, optimise client processes, and mitigate financial waste.
• Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to foster a culture of customer service excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Business Management or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, preferably within logistics or supply‑chain environments.
• Proven ability in market analysis, client relationship management, and revenue generation.
