Business Development Specialist – Growth

About the role

Our client, a leading technology‑enabled business operating in the eCommerce and logistics ecosystem, is looking for an ambitious Business Development Specialist to join its Growth team. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, generating qualified leads and driving revenue growth through effective client onboarding and relationship management.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prospect and engage potential customers across target markets.
• Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through proactive outreach and networking.
• Conduct market and prospect research to understand customer needs and challenges.
• Qualify leads and convert opportunities into new business.
• Deliver professional product demonstrations and client presentations.
• Develop tailored proposals and sales strategies aligned to client objectives.
• Negotiate and close new business opportunities.
• Facilitate successful onboarding of new customers and ensure they derive maximum value.
• Build and maintain long‑term customer relationships as a trusted advisor.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Marketing, Product, Customer Success) to support growth initiatives.
• Attend client meetings, networking events and on‑site visits to strengthen relationships.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in business development, sales or account acquisition.
• Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
• Grade 12 / Matric; tertiary qualification in Sales, Business Management, Marketing, Commerce or related field preferred.
• Experience in eCommerce, logistics, courier services, technology or SaaS is advantageous.
• Strong communication, relationship‑building and stakeholder management abilities.
• Commercial acumen with consultative selling capabilities.
• Effective planning, organisational and time‑management skills.
• Results‑driven, adaptable and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
