Business Development Manager – Mine Site Laboratories (Africa)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially‑driven Business Development Manager to lead the growth, design and commercialization of mine site laboratory solutions across Africa. You will work closely with the Regional Business Development Manager to shape high‑value geochemistry and analytical services tailored to mine site operations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new mine site laboratory opportunities across Africa and build a strong regional sales pipeline.
• Lead tender submissions, contract negotiations and commercial discussions with mining clients.
• Monitor mining activity, exploration programmes and emerging project opportunities.
• Represent the business at mining conferences, client forums and industry events.
• Design fit‑for‑purpose laboratory solutions, including sample preparation facilities, modular labs and full analytical labs.
• Conduct client site visits, technical assessments and translate operational requirements into practical solutions.
• Develop technical and commercial proposals, cost models and pricing strategies.
• Collaborate with technical teams on laboratory design, equipment selection and workflow optimisation.
• Build and maintain relationships with mine managers, geologists, metallurgists and procurement teams.
• Assess commercial and operational risks, provide regular reporting, forecasting and market intelligence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mine site laboratory services, geochemistry/analytical services, mining services or business development/commercial leadership.
• Proven success selling services into mine sites and strong proposal/tender development experience.
• Solid understanding of mine site laboratory operations and an established network within the African mining industry (preferred).
