Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding

About the role

Rangel is expanding its international freight forwarding division and seeks a Business Development Manager to drive new business across South Africa and the SADC region. You will identify prospects, build strategic relationships, and increase market share for air, sea, and road freight services.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, target and secure new freight customers (air, sea, road) in South Africa and the SADC region.
• Develop and execute a structured sales plan and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects and tenders.
• Conduct client meetings, presentations and prepare commercial proposals, quotations and service solutions.
• Participate in RFQs, tenders and contract negotiations while collaborating with pricing, operations and management.
• Identify cross‑selling opportunities across customs clearing, warehousing, contract logistics and cross‑border solutions.
• Support customer retention through regular communication and problem‑solving.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in freight forwarding business development.
• Proven track record selling import and export freight forwarding solutions.
• Strong commercial, negotiation and relationship‑building abilities.
• Resilient, self‑motivated and target‑driven.
• Willingness to travel regularly within South Africa and the SADC region.

Required skills

• Air freight, sea freight and road freight knowledge.
• LCL, FCL, breakbulk and project cargo expertise.
• Understanding of Incoterms, shipping documentation and customs processes.
