Business Development Manager – Advisory & Events

About the role

The Business Development Manager will drive revenue for a fast‑growing pan‑African advisory firm by selling advisory services and event sponsorship packages across energy, mining, infrastructure and finance sectors. This hands‑on, services‑sales position reports directly to the Founder & Managing Director and will shape the future of the firm’s business development function.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute an integrated business development plan covering both advisory services and events.
• Identify, qualify and convert B2B opportunities with corporates, investors, project developers, event organisers and other decision‑makers.
• Sell consultative advisory services such as market‑entry strategies, stakeholder engagement and strategic introductions.
• Sell sponsorship, exhibition and delegate packages for client and proprietary events, tailoring proposals to prospect objectives.
• Manage the full sales cycle—from research and outreach through discovery, proposal development, negotiation, closing and hand‑over to delivery.
• Maintain a high‑quality pipeline in the CRM with accurate activity tracking, conversion metrics and revenue forecasts.

Required profile

• Commercially sharp self‑starter with proven ability to build trusted senior relationships.
• Experience managing end‑to‑end sales cycles in B2B environments.
• Comfort operating across South African, pan‑African and international markets.
• Ambition to grow into a senior or team‑lead role as the business expands.
