Business Developer – Legal Services (Sandton)

About the role

A well‑established medium‑sized law firm with offices in Sandton, Cape Town and Durban is looking for an experienced Business Developer to drive new legal business, manage tender processes and strengthen client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily tender and bid advertisements, summarise opportunities and distribute qualified leads to directors.
• Prepare, update and maintain tender templates, proposals and supporting documentation; coordinate internal approvals and compile inputs for final submissions.
• Track submission deadlines, ensure compliant and timely delivery, and maintain tender registers and bid libraries.
• Liaise with internal departments, vendors and external stakeholders, handling NDAs and interest confirmations.
• Draft professional communications for internal teams, suppliers and contractors and respond to tender‑related queries.
• Support tender evaluation, assist with contract negotiations and facilitate successful bid implementation through to hand‑over.
• Identify new business development opportunities and contribute to long‑term client relationship growth.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years’ experience in legal business development, tender management or a similar role.
• Marketing degree, diploma or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Proven experience within a legal or professional services environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and negotiation abilities.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and analytical problem‑solving skills.
