Bookkeeper – Financial Accounting Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a bookkeeper to oversee our company's financial data across multiple branches. The role involves daily accounting tasks such as monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, and recording payments and adjustments.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cashbooks, journals, intercompany transactions, accruals, trial balance, and fixed‑asset register.
• Prepare and submit statutory returns and monthly audit schedules for balance‑sheet and expense accounts.
• Explain variances and assist in the preparation of budgets.
• Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, ad‑hoc and year‑end reporting for management.
• Capture, allocate and control sundry expenses, reconcile petty‑cash expenditures and manage creditor payments.
• Update fixed‑asset register, post monthly depreciation journals, and perform monthly reconciliations of debtors, creditors, stock and bank accounts.
• Maintain general ledger accounts, record financial transactions and journal entries, and produce balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support external auditors with year‑end accounts, audit schedules and documentation.

Required profile

• Matriculation plus tertiary qualification in finance (preferred).
• Strong analytical, communication and computer skills.
• Good understanding of mathematics, accounting and financial processes.
• High attention to detail.
