Boilermaker – Mining Engineering & Maintenance

About the role

Barberton Fairview Mine is recruiting Boilermakers for its Engineering / Maintenance operations in Barberton, Mpumalanga. This is a permanent junior‑level opportunity for qualified Boilermakers with trade papers and engineering maintenance skills. The role involves fabrication, equipment maintenance, breakdown repairs and engineering installations within a mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricating from engineering drawings
• Cutting, drilling and punching steel
• Assembling plates, pipes, tubes and steel sections
• Performing heat‑treatment processes
• Maintaining belt conveyor components
• Operating lifting equipment and forklifts
• Attending breakdown call‑outs
• Writing technical reports
• Conducting on‑the‑job coaching
• Maintaining engineering equipment
• Following safety standards and procedures
• Supporting cost containment

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Boilermaker trade certificate / trade papers
• Section 13 or 26D trade qualification
• Code 8 driver's licence
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Valid physical fitness certificate
• Ability to read and write English
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work standby and call‑outs
