Boilermaker – Heavy Mining Equipment

About the role

Isambane Mining is looking for an experienced Boilermaker to join its Engineering Department. The role involves fabricating, welding and repairing heavy earth‑moving equipment used in opencast mining, ensuring high availability and safety. The successful candidate will work on a variety of plant components, from buckets to structural assemblies.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate, weld and carry out structural repairs on heavy mining equipment and plant.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical sketches and specifications.
• Measure, cut, fit and assemble steel components according to design requirements.
• Repair buckets, trays, chassis, booms, blades, handrails and other structural parts.
• Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs to minimise downtime.
• Inspect completed work for compliance with quality standards and engineering specifications.
• Operate welding, cutting and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
• Complete job cards, inspection reports and daily timesheets accurately.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent with a recognised Boilermaker Trade Test.
• Minimum five years post‑trade experience in an opencast mining environment working on heavy earth‑moving equipment.
• Good knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and ability to work safely.
• Valid Code B driver’s licence and medically fit as per mine requirements.
