BIM Modeller - Electrical, Data Center

About the role

AECOM is recruiting a BIM Modeller for its electrical and data centre projects in Durban. The role involves routine, structured work in a defined discipline, with the ability to take on more complex tasks. It suits an intermediate Revit user who can draw and model with limited supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine, structured work in the electrical discipline and expand the complexity of tasks over time
• Follow standard operating procedures and methodologies to solve routine problems, while identifying problems in existing procedures
• Work within a disciplined engineering environment, applying experience and skills to complete assigned tasks
• Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines, the client and contractors
• Work independently and show good people management skills
• Apply an awareness of health, safety and environmental issues

Required profile

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering environment
• Intermediate user of Autodesk Revit (Buildings) or similar, able to create content within the discipline with limited supervision
• Intermediate user of other core discipline-specific software
• Good understanding of BIM modelling principles and general knowledge of local standards and codes

Required skills

• Intimate working knowledge of Revit and other BIM platforms
• Working knowledge of clash detection software, AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
