About the role
Pick n Pay is hiring a full-time Baker in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The role covers preparing, baking and finishing bakery items according to recipe instructions, displaying products and keeping the workplace safe and clean. It is physically demanding and involves exposure to cold in freezers and heat from ovens.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, bake and finish bakery items according to recipe guidelines.
- Display and present products in line with set standards.
- Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and safety protocols in the sales floor and storage areas, and comply with security measures.
- Operate and clean equipment as per procedure, and report any malfunctioning machinery or tools to the Bakery Manager.
- Complete administrative tasks such as production records and customer order fulfilment.
Required profile
- Matric qualification.
- Attention to detail, conscientiousness and customer focus.
- Comfortable following established routines and procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with enthusiastic colleagues.
The selection process includes a competency-based evaluation and an interview.
