Back-End Software Engineer II

About the role

We are expanding the technology capability within our Collections and Recoveries division and need a Back‑End Software Engineer II to design, develop, test, deploy and maintain server‑side solutions that handle high‑volume financial data at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business and technical requirements into performant, secure and resilient back‑end solutions.
• Build and optimise APIs, reusable libraries and PostgreSQL database components.
• Write business logic and algorithms that process data accurately and quickly.
• Champion quality through automated testing, CI/CD practices and secure coding (DevSecOps).
• Debug issues across all severity levels and support standby operations when needed.
• Share work with the broader product team and contribute to a collaborative codebase.

Required profile

• 3+ years proven experience in back‑end software development and project delivery.
• Grade 12 National Certificate and a relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology.
• Solid experience with production‑grade systems.
• Proficiency in C# and .NET Core.
• Working knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, efficient queries and data‑model optimisation.
• Understanding of API design and reusable component development.
• Comfort with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and secure coding practices.
• Ability to debug complex issues under pressure and communicate clearly.
• Collaborative mindset.
