Back-End Developer

About the role

Labournet, a South African leader in payroll, HR and compliance solutions, is seeking a Senior Back‑End Developer to join its technology team in Johannesburg. You will work on Java EE applications, ensuring clean, secure code and supporting cross‑functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Prioritise, assign and execute tasks throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Develop, test and maintain Java EE applications using Java SE 8.
• Write efficient, well‑designed code and review teammates’ code.
• Schedule product releases and document development phases.
• Ensure applications are secure, up‑to‑date and assist in incident resolution.

Required profile

• 7+ years of development experience with Java.
• 2–3 years of experience with MS SQL.
• 4+ years with JEE; Spring experience is advantageous.
• 3–4 years with Angular 2+ and front‑end technologies (CSS, JavaScript) – advantageous.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure and Agile methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
• Experience in payroll/HR or financial services is a plus.
