Audit Committee Member (5 posts) & Deputy Director – Supply Chain Management

About the role

The Department of Military Veterans is seeking experienced professionals to join its Audit Committee (five members) and to fill the position of Deputy Director for Supply Chain Management. Both roles are based in Pretoria and involve senior‑level governance, financial oversight and strategic procurement responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent advice on internal audit, financial controls, risk management and accounting policies in line with Treasury Regulations and PFMA.
• Review annual financial statements, ensure compliance with public‑sector reporting frameworks and respond to Auditor‑General findings.
• Develop, implement and monitor supply chain policies, oversee procurement processes, and maintain effective control systems for cost‑effective acquisition of goods and services.
• Draft and amend policy documents, train staff on new procedures, and ensure adherence to Treasury Regulations, GAAP and PFMA requirements.

Required profile

• Matric/ Senior Certificate plus a relevant degree; postgraduate qualification and at least 10 years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial management, legal, ICT or HR for Audit Committee members.
• Minimum 5 years of middle‑management experience in supply chain or procurement for the Deputy Director role.
• Membership of a professional body and prior experience serving on boards or similar committees.
