Assistant Store Manager – 40 hrs/week – Canal Walk

About the role

The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in driving sales, controlling expenses and ensuring excellent customer service at the Sportscene store in Canal Walk. This 40‑hour per week position requires a proactive leader who can manage stock, staff and store performance in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Drive turnover to meet sales targets and manage profit margins.
• Control store expenses and monitor stock losses to keep shrinkage within company standards.
• Recruit, develop and manage staff, handling performance and employee relations.
• Implement in‑store merchandising strategy and maintain visual standards.
• Deliver outstanding customer service in line with the company’s service strategy.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification with at least three years of retail or administrative experience.
• Previous retail management experience, preferably in fashion or sports retail.
• Strong action‑oriented mindset, ability to build networks and focus on customer needs.
• Proven ability to plan, organise and direct teams to achieve results.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office systems.
• Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
