Assistant Operational Finance Manager

About the role

The Assistant Operational Finance Manager supports the Operational Finance Manager in capturing, reconciling and reporting the financial performance of the operational company (OPCO) and related entities. This hands‑on role ensures accurate management accounts, balance sheets and audit deliverables while maintaining compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with bookkeeping, journal entries and financial administration for OPCO and smaller entities.
• Prepare VAT submissions and support SARS verifications or audits.
• Help compile the OPCO income statement and balance sheet, resolving queries and making adjustments.
• Support the preparation of payment reconciliations and review of payment batches.
• Maintain utility schedules for body corporates and manage hotel rent rolls and lease agreements.
• Provide monthly reporting on lease status, expiry dates and renewal actions.
• Assist in preparing audit packs, responding to audit queries and ensuring compliance with financial policies.
• Offer ad‑hoc financial support to the Operational Finance Manager and the wider Operations Finance team.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• 1 to 3 years experience in an assistant finance or senior accountant role.
• Exposure to multi‑entity reporting, management accounts and audit processes.
• Experience in hospitality, property or investment structures is advantageous.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Excel.
• Strong computer literacy and familiarity with accounting software.
