Assistant Financial Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading hospitality and gaming group, is seeking an Assistant Financial Manager to join their high‑performing finance team in Johannesburg North. The role offers a blend of detailed accounting work and broader commercial exposure, reporting to senior stakeholders and leading a small finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial reviews, analysis and management reporting in compliance with IFRS.
• Prepare and review tax and VAT submissions and liaise with SARS.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Prepare annual financial statements and provide technical input on IFRS, tax and Companies Act matters.
• Support internal and external audits, group reporting and key finance projects.
• Manage and develop the finance team, ensuring reporting deadlines are met.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification.
• Minimum 2 years post‑articles commercial experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax, VAT and SARS liaison.
• Experience preparing annual financial statements, budgets and forecasts.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Exposure to Accpac or CaseWare.
