Assistant Director – Supply Chain Management

About the role

The Department of Military Veterans seeks an Assistant Director to lead supply chain management functions, ensuring compliance with government policies and efficient procurement of goods and services. This senior role involves strategic demand management, risk oversight, and coordination of bidding processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide demand management services and implement supply chain policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Undertake SCM risk management and enforce internal controls.
• Support line functionaries in drafting terms of reference and specifications.
• Prepare and present submissions to the bid committee and coordinate bid committee secretariat services.
• Administer LOGIS and BAS systems, ensuring credibility and compliance with legislative frameworks.
• Manage departmental fixed assets, maintain the electronic asset register and coordinate disposal processes.
• Oversee facilities, transport management services and departmental stores, ensuring optimal stock levels and proper handling of goods.

Required profile

• Senior Certificate and a Degree or Diploma in Financial Management, Supply Chain or a related field.
• 3‑5 years senior administrative experience in supply chain duties.
• Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act and related supply chain management policies, guidelines and directives.
• Strong analytical, facilitation and coordination abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with LOGIS system.
• Proficiency with BAS system.
