Assistant Director – Facility Management (6‑month contract)

About the role

Taletso TVET College seeks an innovative, results‑oriented Assistant Director to lead facility management functions for a six‑month fixed‑term contract. The role involves overseeing repairs, maintenance and construction projects across the college’s central office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise facilities, repairs, maintenance and construction‑related projects, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, timeframes and standards.
• Lead work teams, coordinate with project owners, service providers and stakeholders, and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Update project information in the college’s management system, monitor progress, and ensure proper project closure.
• Plan, initiate, supervise implementation and monitor progress of projects while adapting to changing conditions.

Required profile

• Three‑year tertiary qualification in Building Science, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Facilities Management or Property Management.
• Valid driver’s licence (except for applicants with disabilities) and at least five years of functional experience in facilities and building management, including three years in a supervisory capacity.
• Knowledge of DHET business strategies, public service policies, relevant legislation (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, COIDA, National Building Regulations) and strong budgeting, financial and project‑management abilities.
