Artisan Hands – Casual Pool (Engineering Support)

About the role
The Artisan Hands position is part of the Casual Pool supporting the Engineering department at Maidstone Mill. You will work closely with artisans and foremen to keep production equipment clean, functional, and safe.
Key responsibilities
- Strip and clean machinery, identifying any damaged parts to aid production efficiency.
- Provide tools requested by artisans, ensuring timely hand‑over.
- Maintain tool condition using the tool sheet and perform regular checks.
- Follow lawful instructions from artisans or foremen.
- Carry out general housekeeping to keep the work area clean and safe.
- Enforce compliance with safety standards such as ISO, SHE and HACCP.
Required profile
- Matric (N2) qualification – advantageous.
- At least 1 year experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment – advantageous.
- Honest, hard‑working, with verifiable references.
- Ability to work well within a team.
Required skills
- Machinery cleaning and stripping.
- Tool handling and maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety standards (ISO, SHE, HACCP).
