Artisan Foreman Grade A - Rubber Stamp Making

About the role

The Government Printing Works in Pretoria is looking for an Artisan Foreman Grade A for rubber stamp making. The role covers designing and operating stamp equipment, overseeing and maintaining the manufacturing process, supervising the team and ensuring quality and safety in production.

Key responsibilities

• Design stamps, operate stamp equipment and oversee the manufacturing process to ensure effective production output.
• Confirm client or internal requirements and specifications so that rubber stamps are accurate and fit for purpose.
• Develop, review and amend rubber stamp designs using design software or approved manual methods, and prepare text, graphics and artwork for exposure onto stamp-making materials such as polymer or rubber plates.
• Supervise the team and ensure machines and equipment run continuously, safely and efficiently; coordinate repairs and technical support with maintenance personnel.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance processes, and ensure finished stamps are prepared, labelled and packaged for dispatch.
• Recommend process improvements to improve quality, reduce waste and boost efficiency.
• Clean, maintain and keep machines, tools and equipment in good working order, keeping records of cleaning, maintenance, repairs and related costs.
• Support SHERQ (safety, health, environment, risk and quality) initiatives, take part in corrective and preventative actions, and assist in staff training, coaching, performance monitoring and performance management.
