Apprenticeship Programme 2026 – Engineering & Manufacturing

About the role

Komatsu South Africa is offering a four‑year apprenticeship programme for unemployed South African youth who wish to start a career in engineering and manufacturing. The programme combines structured technical training, practical workplace exposure and theoretical learning through merSETA modules.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and learn technical skills and engineering processes.
• Work independently and within teams on technical tasks.
• Complete prescribed merSETA apprenticeship modules.
• Gain theoretical and practical engineering skills.
• Learn workplace health and safety procedures.
• Maintain workshop equipment and keep an apprenticeship logbook.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or N3 qualification with Mathematics.
• Currently unemployed.
• Passed NQF Level 4 subjects: Mathematics or Technical Mathematics, Physical Science or Technical Science, and N3 Electrical/Fitter Trade Theory and/or N3 Mechanotechnology.
